The Alfa Romeo 6C 2500 was one of the most important cars in the history of the Italian company at the turn of the Second World War. In fact, the car went into production before the war and was resumed immediately after the conflict, remaining in production until 1950 and then being replaced by the Alfa Romeo 1900. The car is also the last produced series of the Alfa Romeo 6C which had debuted in 1927 with the Alfa Romeo 6C 1500.
The Alfa 6C 2500 is considered by many to be the classic Alfa Romeo par excellence. It is perfect to be driven, even in current traffic conditions, thanks to its exuberant torque and power, it has a line that has aged very well, indeed it has acquired even more charm over the years and it is rare, but not so unique that you cannot find spare parts or specialists able to get their hands on it. The productive life of the "6C" engine, also thanks to the forced interval of the Second World War, was long: born in 1927, with a displacement of 1.5 litres, it definitively went out of production in 1954, after racing (and winning ) and to have been used on various series of road cars dressed by the most important coachbuilders.
It was in 1938 that the 6C engine reached a capacity of 2500 cc but the arrival of the war forced a minimum production for the following 8 years. Finally, in 1946 the 6C 2500 enters its production phase and the first model is called the Freccia d'Oro, characterized by the chassis number starting with the digits 916. 680 examples will be produced until 1951, all with bodywork by Alfa Romeo itself , in need of finding work for its workers and therefore happy to also produce bodywork in its factory.
